Spring is here; it’s time to dance against dictators and boogie against billionaires!!

So many community organizations are struggling right now in this moment of crisis for our country. Come meet these groups and find out how you can offer support to keep them and the people they serve strong and healthy. And dance to local bands and choirs while you’re at it!

We can’t forget how important it is to keep our spirits up at times like these. Celebration, music, dance, and community aid are essential as people across the country pull together to resist authoritarianism.

COMMUNITY GROUPS: Are you part of a group or organization that’s working in support of vulnerable community members? We want you at Pull Together! It’s simple: fill out our Interest Form (forms.gle/jUgVpZJiixf3vhaQA) and then come with a clipboard and whatever materials you need to inform and gather new supporters.

This event is being collaboratively produced by members of: --AS220-- --Carpenters Local Union 330-- --Indivisible RI-- --Providence Streets Coalition-- --Reclaim RI-- and the performers listed above!

ACA Signups · Congressional District Enrollment: Rhode IslandOver the past couple of months I've compiled a master spreadsheet breaking out enrollment in ACA plans (Qualified Health Plans & Basic Health Plans), Medicaid/CHIP coverage (both traditional & via ACA expansion) and Medicare (both Fee-for-Services & Advantage) at the Congressional District levels. With the pending dire threat to several of these programs (primarily Medicaid & the ACA) from the House Republican Budget Proposal which recently passed, I'm going a step further and am generating pie charts which visualize just how much of every Congressional District's total population is at risk of losing healthcare coverage. Hubby, who used to teach American history, reminded me of the #HartfordConvention from 1814-15. #Maine, #Massachusetts, #Vermont, #Connecticut, #NewHampshire and #RhodeIsland had considered leaving the union and forming their own "independent republic" in opposition to "political problems arising from the federal government's increasing power. "

"Some delegates may have been in favor of New England's #secession from the United States and forming an #independent republic, though no solution was adopted at the convention. Historian Samuel Eliot Morison rejected the notion that the Hartford convention was an attempt to take New England out of the Union and give treasonous aid and comfort to Britain. Morison wrote: 'Democratic politicians, seeking a foil to their own mismanagement of the war and to discredit the still formidable Federalist party, caressed and fed this infant myth until it became so tough and lusty as to defy both solemn denials and documentary proof.' "

During the march yesterday, I witnessed a car wanting to use the street of the route. A clergy person (with yellow “clergy” hat and hi-viz vest) put their body against the nose of the car and got on their phone calling for help. They held the car off from interrupting the march (best case) or driving into protesters (worst case). Such bravery, de-escalation skill, and care from that clergy person.

So many volunteers made the protest possible, nonviolent, effective.
