Giraffe’s Side View Elegance
Today, my wife and I took a trip to the Gone Wild Safari near Pineville, Louisiana. This small, drive-through animal experience was both fun and relatively affordable. At the gift shop, we paid for admission and bought two large cups of animal food pellets from the cashier. With those in hand, we set off on a short drive, hoping to feed some animals along the way. We didn’t have to wait long—almost immediately after entering the refuge, a large camel approached on the driver’s side, while a curious gazelle appeared on the passenger’s side. Excitedly, we held the cups of food out the windows for the animals to nibble on, but in both cases, the animals had other plans! Each one grabbed a cup of food, leaving us with empty hands and plenty of laughter. The photo I’ve shared is of a Masai giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi)—or so I believe. I’ll be sharing more photos bit by bit in the future.
