@990000@mstdn.social<p>Gotta say I'm pretty happy with converting my website from WordPress to Craft. I'm able to match the performance, scoring 98/100 in PageSpeed Insights and A in GTMetrix. WebpageTest is also showing great responses. I haven't yet had to do any complicated queries, but out of the box it's been pretty smooth developing so far. Ernie Smith<p>The bad news about that feedback I got is that it had me looking at completed code again unnecessarily last night. The good news? I found a couple of optimizations.</p><p>By pulling in certain elements via GraphQL it cuts down on database polling with Twig. One of the big reasons the front page is so heavy is that to do the randomizer I have to pull every story in the database. Rebuilding it in GraphQL means I pull only the elements I need, which takes way less time.</p><p><a href="https://writing.exchange/tags/craftcms" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>craftcms</span></a></p>

No clue why it’s not working—everything I’ve tried just has not worked—but it’s probably a sign I need to move to something else.</p>
