And upgrading a 10-year-old WP site will probably break old plugins that have been abandoned and aren't compatible with newer versions of PHP or MySQL, etc., so you end up with replace/rebuild work that's not in the budget, etc. Gah.

A couple of times I've scrapped the whole thing and rebuilt in #KirbyCMS. It's dreeeamy.

Depending on your needs, you might look at #KirbyCMS. It's PHP-based, very dev-friendly, and uses files & folders—no database—so always quick. Not free, but live-site licensing is pretty affordable, and the in-house & community support is great.

https://getkirby.com/

René Henrich
I just released my first Kirby CMS plugin today!

It protects your website from unwanted visitors with a password screen. This is useful to share a staging site with your client without needing to set up basic auth or a user account for them.

I'd appreciate any testers! Bix
How much of this is doable under #KirbyCMS? I’m assuming that the inline editor transformations are not, but what about elegant handling of untitled posts? What about day-page archives? What about a Fluent emoji-picker and color generator (this would even work if you’d have to put the color in a custom field that creates a class name on the post that can be styled by CSS).

https://pretend.slow.dog
