Harvested some carrots I planted in 2024 and had forgotten about. I think they were 'Parijse Markt 4," a packet I found in a cute garden store at the Amsterdam airport a few years ago. Sous vided for 90 mins, then sautéed in a cast-iron skillet with butter and maple syrup. #carrots #daucus #gardening #cooking

Feeling under the weather today, so I woke up, made a #curry for my wife and I, ate it, put away leftovers, and am now returning to bed.

#Soup included a head of #cauliflower, a couple #carrots, an onion, a couple thumbs of #ginger, a can of #coconutmilk, an old #zucchini, and a diced chicken breast. Spinach to serve.

When I cook with meat, I try to aim for a 4:1 veg-to-meat ratio. Here's hoping the ginger helps my throat a bit.

I woke up 2 hours early & made a new jar of #pickled #carrots & #daikon.

Seeing the recall, I just checked our #carrots – which are seeing lots of use in this afternoon's cooking – and glad they're not affected.

Funny though, that our carrots are #JFC brand. lol would be appropriate for a recalled brand.

Went to make potato leek soup for dinner and when I got to the carrots I looked at the bag and thought "I should really check if these got recalled!" and guess what? They were! When it’s supposed to rain and then snow (ugh!), but it gets dark early, you harvest carrots by lamplight!

Very happy with the harvest this year - I added bonemeal to the raised bed before planting.

Back at the end of April, BeetBear and I planted up our usual pot of carrots. We pretty much left it alone in a sunny spot all summer, with the occasional watering and feeding. Today we pulled our first dozen (variety "Moonraker") to put in tonight's stew. There's at least 100 more carrots in there to last us through the end of the year!
