I actually got this #SixOnSaturday readyin time, but by then it was late and since it had been a work day, no more oomph to post ( I take text and alt text seriously, no quick matter! lol)
We had snowy days and cold (seasonally adjusted- days in mid minus teens C) so views of #snow covered #garden beds, #texture and cool #light with a shadowy selfie + Aloe #flowers taking a look at a Haworthia- indoors of course! #winter #WinterPictures #March #Alberta #houseplants #succulents #CountryLiving

#FotoMontag from a few days ago- I'm not sure of the exact mechanism, but some combination of the wind direction as snow was falling, and/or later, changing temperatures and the reach or lack of sunshine (this effect is roughly on the north sides of the trees)- led to snow on many tree tree trunks in this sawtooth pattern.

A view of part of a moderately thick tree trunk, with thick furrowed rough medium grey bark with very small/fine bits of lichen in grey and orange, surrounded by snow, a fallen tree trunk behind, and more trees farther back across a clear snowy area. A think layer of snow has stuck to the shady side of the trunk in a vertical strip, roughly straight on one side and coming out in sections like the teeth of a saw on the other side. The teeth and gaps between are roughly evenly spaced.
a closer view of the same tree trunk, see description on the other photo in this post. You can see the thinness of the snow cover and the tiny chunks of lichen that just blend into the trunk's texture from farther back.

We're seeing a turn toward more #wintry conditions! Temps have been dropping below average with some new #snow and more probably on the way.
Short #video shot while I was out cutting firewood #January 07- not too cold yet- prob around -14C/7F when I shot this (much more extreme later in the week! with a few nights near -40C/F one way or the other, and possibly below -30C for at least one *daytime*)

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 24/25 well, I'm finishing before the #NewYear that's something...lol
#Winter clouds here are not as exciting as summer skies, here, but the compressed days and position of the #sun mean I get to see lots of #sunsets and even the occasional #sunrise ! Day 24 is the sun coming up through the trees across the road, snapped from the car on the way to work on an early (for me) day. Day 25 is from an afternoon walk #Christmas Day before cooking! #Alberta #WinterPictures

A little past dawn: an orange ball of light with white hot centre shines through a tangle of young poplars and low willows. The narrow trunks and branches are silhouetted against bits of dawn tinted blue sky . the bottom of the image where trunks meet undergrowth and ground is near black and black vignetting increases the feeling of black framing.
A small thinly branched spruce sapling sits next to an old stump covered in moss, lichens, and fallen leaves. The sapling and random high bits on the ground are gilded by the low sun- just above the horizon, seen through the scattered tree trunks of a bit of open woodland, with golden grass and snow pasture/meadow beyond. In contrast to the darkening wood, the sky outside looks bright- just a hint of gold below and hint of blue above. Black vignetting.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 20 The #sun provides much less warmth in winter, but provides many great photo opps, being lower in the sky/ easier to combine with other #landscape elements! In general, #winter here is not our stormy season- summer skies are much more dramatic, but we can still get some good clouds at times! To get these unobstructed southwest views, I have to trudge over to the neighbours' fence (trees, saplings, fences in the way before that!) #WinterPictures #Alberta #CountryLiving

Looking across a pasture moderately covered with snow-with bumps and dips made by the soil and plants underneath, occasional bits of grass, thistles sticking through. Back a bit on the left is a large, shadowed dug-out- a spot excavated to collect water for cattle to drink, with a mound to the right from the excavated soil, all snow covered. Farther back to the left is an upright board wind fence, cattle just visible even farther in the centre, rows of low dark willows and trees mid distance, and in the centre the mountains can be seen on the horizon, blue and white with gold and blue choppy clouds above them. Above that, an area of mostly gold sky topped with a narrow dark blue-grey cloud edged in gold which goes all the way across the image. Left of centre, the barely gold mid-afternoon sun is 3/4 visible, perched on the edge of that cloud. Blue sky above.
