I started this collage for Six on Saturday, didn't finish (work days) then thought I'd add one more image and make #SevenOnSunday - I finished yesterday but by night had no oomph to post! Now it might be #FotoMontag !
I already had the square edits for 6, so I made it vertical with the 7th- is this shape ok for people to view? Is it good on phones? I only use laptop, so I always prefer landscape orientation images... details in alt /replies #spring #florespondence #BloomScrolling #Alberta

#Colour + #sun for #SevenOnSunday with hints of days of high contrast to come! A few warm days right now (high of 26C forecast for today, first time that high in ages!) but we've had chilly days and nights as low as -5C already (not early for us). #Winter is not far away. Still tons of colour but #trees have reached peak, only tamarack have yet to hit full colour, some poplars already bare. Soon it will be all about #light shadow, texture, line.

smoky days, wet days, clear and warm days last week, now we go into a week forecast above average, sunny and dry-- good for farmers harvesting, though chilly most nights. I should get some garden stuff wrapped up, start thinking about cutting firewood for the inevitable drop!

#being someplace -of course hikes *can* do this too).
Colours just starting to tip over into #autumn #LeafMother starts with the understory, forbs and shrubs and begins to dull the greens in preparation for the over the top displays to come.

Foreground is open area, seasonally/variably wet grass /sedgeland with variety of native forbs + introduced agricultural weeds. At this season it is +/- green, but bit by bit gradually shifting gold. Naturally and or browsed (cattle seasonally, moose all year) low willow + dwarf birch, grow out of the grass, gradually gaining density and height farther back in a zone less cattle impacted and/or not cleared for pasture for a long time. First a zone of willows/dwarf birch reaching a metre or couple , then taller willows, paper birch, poplars, spruce tamarack, then where the ground is a little higher, taller poplars, tamarack + spruce. Leaves are green sliding into gold tones. Sky is a bit hazy and lightly overcast, so that it has faded to near white in the photos. Centre left and right, close views of willow leaves already turned gold with some brown bits, red bits and bits still green. Centre a Petasites/Sweet Coltsfoot large leaf, oddly nearly immaculate and green still (they are often brown and disintegrated by autumn) Bottom two views into groves of young and rapidly growing Tamarack/Larch trees, their soft, feathery needles still fully green, with an understory of small willows and dwarf birch, many -along with the grass- showing some fall colour and/or already defoliated.

#SevenOnSunday only 1 day late ;) Since Friday to Sunday are my work days, I chose some views from the #commute from Condor #Alberta to #RockyMountainHouse We have #haze #smoke #thunderstorms (seen but not felt) and an #agricultural crop of dubious nutrition but great #colour!
Top: Canola crops reaching peak flowering, seen from #DavidThompsonHighway + centre- mixed with sow thistle etc -failed crop or leftovers?( maybe too wet after sowing?)
