I went to a bookstore today and found a manga i really want to read. The price on the back was in both USD and CAD. Fine, but I only have Sterling.
So I went to the desk and asked them for the price in local currency.
"Oh, that's £48."
"But it's only $47 American. (£37)"
"Well, what can I say?"
I dipped.

#Waterstones was my favourite shop to browse in as a child, so spotting my book (and displayed so prominently!) brought me a bolt of joy today. Love thinking of #Autistic kids discovering it while browsing.
And while we're on the (#CloudStrike) topic, the fact that various major #UK #Retailers, such as #Waterstones, #Morrisons and #Waitrose, have been forced to go cash-only does rather demonstrate the existential dangers of a #Cashless society, does it not?

The grand entrance to the former La Scala cinema on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. This building was originally a warehouse, but like a surprsingly large number of other buildings on the same street, it was converted into a cinema at the start of the 20th Century. It opened in 1912 and closed in 1984. It has been home to a Waterstones bookshop since the 1990s.
