WTF is #Blizzard doing?! Apparently hackers have been exploiting #Starcraft2 to spring clips of actual mass shootings and videos designed to trigger epileptic seizures, as well as other disturbing content, on unsuspecting players for at least A YEAR!! #videogames #terrorism kotaku.com/starcraft-2-hackers

#StarCraftMassRecall is one of those absolutely wild mods: a full remake of #StarCraft1 and #BroodWar in #StarCraft2, complete with new models and cutscenes. Since StarCraft 2 is now free-to-play, that means this long-running project is as well. #GameMods #Games #StarCraft

For reference on how I'm playing #StarCraft2 in Linux, in Steam use the Games > Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library option. Download the BattleNet installer and Browse... for it from the above Steam option. From the newly created Steam page for that .EXE, click the gear and choose Properties...
Go to Compatibility and enable Proton. The first time, it'll install BattleNet, on subsequent runs it'll just launch it. You can install StarCraft 2 from that launcher, and it launches just fine!

Have had plenty of other games to play, but this week I got back to #StarCraft2. Both Lutris and Bottles had both ended up confusing me with "installing" and yet *not* installing the game? But I used the Steam "add non-steam game" trick and that works! It's slightly slow to start up, and I'd say there's a tiny bit of lag in game but not enough to ruin game play for me. Played a few single player rounds, and a bunch of 2 and 3 player games.

Any #StarCraft (technically #StarCraft2) players out there?

That was too easy... ? Do you play... on LINUX?!

I put Ubuntu 18.04 LTS/20.04 LTS on 2 older laptops - don't have either now. Also WSL / WSL2 (including using it for work stuff!) But I'm tempted to give it a more serious, immersive try on my Lenovo Legion 5 (AMD cpu, AMD iGPU, Nvidia dGPU).

#Ubuntu again? #ArchLinux? #Fedora? #Pop? #LinuxMint? #Debian?

Less worried about my Steam games - I've checked a bunch! Some native!
