José Neves and Rita Lucas co-ordinated the dossier ‘The posthumous lives of revolutions’, published by Práticas da História, in which they wanted to ‘encourage the study of the different interpretations and representations of past revolutions, but also the debate around the precariousness of the boundary that separates the present from the past’.

Many #revolutions are lead by coalitions.
It's the task of the #communists to unite with other groups when short term goals align, and struggle against them in order to keep the movement on the path towards #communism.
Just because a group of people participated in the original #revolution and helped to make it happen doesn't necessarily mean they are dedicated communists.
There is very good reason to believe that a significant number of the #military would side with a popular #revolution against the #US government.
Many of them are principled #libertarian types, and if called upon to enforce #martiallaw, would simply go home.

The #guillotine example is actually pretty perfect because yes, that was what happened. Mass executions in which the powerless were executed to satisfy the #bloodthirst of the #mob. There's a reason it was referred to as the #ReignOfTerror.
And when marginalized groups who tend to be executed in these "#revolutions" express concern about mass violence from their neighbours, this is the rationale used: your fear is justification for your #execution.
