Tristan Ridley<p>The most confusing thing I've learned on Mastodon so far is how many supposed <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/socialists" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>socialists</span></a> support the fascist government of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/China" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>China</span></a>. Stalin may have modified the ideas of Marx to suit the authoritarian reality of Russia, but China takes the fascist elements of the USSR and forgets the socialist bits.</p><p>You can't claim a nation so full of poverty, rich capitalists, and suppression of the proletariat is socialist, without being immediately outed as either a troll or plant undermining <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/socialism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>socialism</span></a>.</p>
