I wonder when was the last time this phone box on Dumbarton Road near Glasgow University was used? Well for making a phone call at any rate! Can the company which own this, and other such seemingly abandoned public phone boxes, not be forced to maintain them rather than leaving them to get into such a decrepit state?
A K6 Red Telephone Kiosk on Lochlea Road on the Southside of Glasgow. It was designed in 1935 by Giles Gilbert Scott, the grandson of George Gilbert Scott who designed the main buildings of Glasgow University in the 1860s. This particular kiosk was made at Walter MacFarlane's Saracen Foundry in the Possilpark area of Glasgow.
Sort of a Throwback Thursday and it's wild to me that this is from 24 years ago. The oldest print I still offer and still get sales from.

From my second time in London. Wistful sigh...
Perhaps Scotland's most famous phone box, in the beautiful village of Pennan on the north Aberdeenshire coast. The one actually used in the film "Local Hero", which was partly made in the village in 1983, was a prop placed nearby. Off-season coastal towns rule. In Sidmouth, Devon, someone’s turned these old phoneboxes into Cabinets of Curiosity. These two are stuffed with exhibits of local folk charms & witchcraft, & include a mummified cat found in the wall of one cottage, & spells sealed up in others. #folklore #witchcraft #devon #mummification #spells #witches #witch #halloween #folkhorror #folkhorrorrevival #magick #spells #britishfolklore #englishfolklore #magic #spells #mythology #sidmouth #publicart #PhoneBox

The double phone box on Proby’s Quay is looking the worse for wear these days. This is what it looked like on a bright July day in 2021. It hasn’t improved since.
Notions.
I do like a bit of London transport heritage!

In Thurne, in Norfolk, an old phone box has been repurposed as an information centre. Inside there is a wind-up audio player for various bird calls.

Okay a proper #introduction post this time. Hi, I’m Mark. I am a #DigitalArtist and #photographer from #Georgia in the #USA - I’ve been doin this more than a decade now and love it. I took a career break to travel and never went back to cubicle life. I’m sharing something old and something relatively new this time. The #PhoneBox print is the oldest one that’s still out there selling. And I love rainy art so that one was hard to pick. But #Atlanta was home for 10 years.
