The US backing itself into a corner & throwing away allies with its trade wars and wrapping itself up in a warm blanket of paranoia..

@ricardoharvin I'm so sick of that argument. No, it doesn't.

Take it from someone who has had mental illness and who is on the spectrum. It's one of the biggest stigmas in the world.

Also, words have several meanings depending upon discipline - and in #psychology #racism is an umbrella term for #paranoia and #narcissism - which are huge problems nowadays. Both NPD and PPD are rampant.

You don't want to deal with that? You don't want to deal with the source - and that is pissing in the wind.

When did you first start worrying for humankind?

My latest post concerns the moment that I became uncertain about the survival of a species, thanks to an otherwise typical bus journey.

Not *all* of his F'ups are intentional.

My father has #Dementia. I see SO much of his behavior in T****. Simply making stuff up when he simply can't remember (then attacking those who point out his mistake as being "out to get him".)

The #paranoia (he never LOSES anything. It's always "stolen".) Can't separate fact from fiction.

I would NEVER let my father manage ANY responsibility in his condition (no matter how small) let alone run an entire country.

Hmm... I was looking into Paranoia again on the off-chance I might play it again soon... and realized that what I thought was slightly outdated (the paranoia about communist traitors without even the slightest understanding of what communism is) is eerily prescient of current right-wing talking points.

Doesn't help that the disturbing belief in the infallibility of the obviously deranged Computer, the jack booted security, the clueless technologists... all feel familiar.

Finished "The Madness" on Netflix. We enjoyed it, though it tapered off ever so slightly as it progressed.

At the start, it totally captures the paranoid vibe of a 1970s thriller like The Parallax View or even The Conversation (though with a bang-up-to-date plot).

But it lost a bit of that paranoid edge as it got closer to the end and became a bit more formulaic.

Still, well worth a watch. And the central performance from Colman Domingo is excellent.
