Going to try to do the long awaited #Arturia #MiniBrute2s stream around 2:30 PST today. Find me at YouTube.com/@etherdiver, our look for the direct link in an hour or so.
Here's a look at the newest track from Metaphysical Shitposting! This one was entirely modular/semi modular gear. #MiniBrute2s on one voice, 0-Coast (thru Strega) on one, #Strega doing an intermittent drone and a final voice that was made with noise thru a bandpass filter (WMDevices #C4RBN filter) that then goes thru a flanger (Happy Nerding FX Aid XL).
Delay via Mimeophon; reverb via Desmodus Versio. Both routed via mixer's aux sends.

Musically, the melody and the bass came first -- melody from the #opsix and the bass from the #Hydrasynth. The crazy synth pad/vocalesque thing that dominates the back half of the song is also Hydra. #MiniBrute2s provides some analog plucks throughout. Lots and lots of #Foley in this one, most of it stuff I created myself, including a rainstorm I recorded by sticking my #Zoom recorder in the window well.
This one started as a jam based around the main repeating melodic sequence. That was played on the #Arturia #MicroFreak. The #MiniBrute2s joined on bass if memory serves, while the #DrumBruteImpact handled drum duties. I recorded a jam of ten minutes or so with this setup as a multitrack on my #Tascam Model 12.
The main bass sound is #Arturia #MiniBrute2s but it swaps out with a #Roland #AlphaJuno version here and there; the MiniBrute is the heavier, sludgier fuzzier one, the AlphaJuno version has some nice stereo width and a much smoother vibe. The AlphaJuno is also represented (in the intro and the break) in the one of the most famous sounds of all the time, the OG "rave hoover," a preset called "What The."
During My #InstrumentDays phase, my notes say I added some #Arturia #MiniBrute2s (one of the main melodies) and some #Roland #AlphaJuno (an element of one of the builds). Other #instruments you can hear are the #ASM #Hydrasynth (high strings); #Korg #Monologue (main bassline; sweeps that were actually done with a keygroup sampled #MPC instrument I made before I sold the actual #synth); and last, a ton of #MicroFreak all over the place.
In terms of its #arrangement this track features the #TR6s drum machine, the #Arturia #MiniBrute2s on bass, #Hydrasynth does the deranged organ, #opsix on the main chord/stab sounds and one repeating sequence. That was roughly where I left the song in the #recording phase. When I came back to it in #production, I added #KawaiK4r (some harmonic support for the chords) and #Roland #AlphaJuno (MKS-50) to it (lovely analog choir, recorded hot/distorted)
From Nov 18 to Nov 22 I had #InstrumentDays where each day I would take a specific instrument, and just add a bit of it to as many of the in-progress tracks as I could. It went like this:
Day 1: Add #Arturia #MiniBrute2s to 3 tracks
Day 2: Add #KawaiK4r to 4 tracks
Day 3: Add #VolcaDrum to 2 tracks
Day 4: Add #Hydrasynth to 2 tracks
Day 5: Add #Roland #MKS50 (aka #AlphaJuno) to 4 tracks
