For fun I do experimental literary projects. One of them is something I call a "Wikicloud," where I do detailed research on a specific subject (in this case, Germany in the second half of the Medieval period, in preparation for a vampire novel I'm writing this winter), then not only record all the pages I read for it, and assemble my notes, but use a #mindmap format to show the order I read the pages (center outward), and how each page links to the others. I talk about this a lot on Mastodon!

I'm a #mindMapping newbie. Currently trying out Nice Mind and Simple Mind. Only testing on Android so far. Anything else out there that's simple and easy for a noob?

I'm seriously considering Nice Mind. It has an option for a one-time Lifetime payment, about $20. I don't like monthly subscriptions for apps.

"What's on your mind?"

To be honest #Mastodon I was just thinking, "Where is my #MindMap app?" so as to better organize the many many many "Whats" just destructively going unmapped, unexplored and more importantly unused up there.

But now, now what I am thinking is:

"Have you ever even developed software #Microsoft ? "

I'd rather write a new mapper app from scratch than live through that everyday hell just so the once annual accident I ask you first if you could locate a file.

Last week, I decided to try a new way to take notes about papers I read to remember them better, and entered the world of mindmaps for note taking!
I must admit I had forgotten how joyful it can be to play with colored pencils and this feeling of "fun" goes a long way for remembering better! I'm already loving it!

I tried to use mind mapping software and it just didn't work for me. In the end I concede that I am just a doodler and my brain prefers the fun of being as irreverent as I can when learning something dry

Mind maps are not a recent invention. The insightful book Lines of Thought by Even-Ezra shows how medieval authors used mind maps in the marginalia of their books to help them understand what they read. #medieval #mindmap

Fun cat: The curly braces { } were derived from this habit. They are not parenthesis but branches of a mind map.

After suffering through a few days of overwhelm, I finally sat down yesterday and, of all things, mindmapped all my obligations, pending tasks, and projects in progress using @Mindnode. It’s a monster of a #mindmap. But how nice to see everything at once, and to see the underlying structure of it emerge, and to begin to see patterns, and to start grouping similar tasks together. Maybe I’ve finally found a #TaskManager that works the way my brain does?

#Freeplane っていう #OSS のマインドマップのアプリを触ってたらデフォルトで入ってるアイコンセットのなかに #Affinity の 3 アプリのアイコンがあった

ただ、1 つ前の v1 のアイコンで、その他のアイコンもなんか若干懐かしいデザイン…（この前デザイン刷新された LibreOffice のアイコンも古いやつだったし）
