@actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd Good morning everyone.

I need a bit of help, let's see if anyone is able to.

When you press the Alt key while you're using #MicrosoftOffice, some tags appear on the screen, indicating which key to press for which menu, submenu, etc.

How can I activate that same thing on #MicrosoftEdge or on other #Windows11 programs?

I notice that I work faster only with a keyboard than a combination of keyboard and mouse.

Other tips to use only the keyboard would be wonderful too.

Thanks.

ICYMI, a while back I did release my #macOS app, Browser Actions.

BA lets you use #Apple #Shortcuts to automate #GoogleChrome, #MicrosoftEdge, #Vivaldi, #Chromium, #BraveBrowser, and #Safari – with actions for navigating, working with forms, clicking page elements, handling windows & tabs, getting data out, and more!

14d trial, perpetual licenses, no subs.

(I'd really appreciate some boosts ♻️ – it's hard to get new apps noticed, and I'm struggling quite a bit 😬)

Microsoft Edge: Adobe Reader also standard for business users from fall

Private Edge users have long since switched to the Adobe inline reader. From September, it will also become an opt-out for business customers.

How MS Edge’s Immersive Reader Helps Me Slow Down

We all probably know the drill of a typical workday: back-to-back meetings, side conversations in team chats about some other topics, drafting & scanning emails, creating Jira issues, and juggling multiple project threads. The sheer volume of information coming in such a short time can be challenging.

Normally, this isn’t an issue for me. But sometimes I find myself struggling to read long texts in the middle of these high-intensity stretches. Not because I lack the time, but because my mind is already racing ahead to the next thing. I can’t seem to slow it down. This is annoying and, to be honest, a little frightening, because I realise that my mind is in a very short-cycle mode – clear evidence that I’m under stress.

Over time, I’ve found a simple trick that helps: Microsoft Edge’s Immersive Reader mode. I don’t just use it to declutter the according web page. I let the browser read the text out loud to me.

Yes, that’s right! I hit the play button, lean back, and keep my hands off the mouse and keyboard to avoid getting distracted by other tabs or windows.

It forces me to slow down and listen instead of skimming the whole page. It eliminates the temptation to jump between paragraphs or skim entire sections. It enforces a slower pace that I have to accept. At first, it’s a bit of a struggle – but I’ve come to realize: it helps me to calm down a bit.

If you ever feel overwhelmed by the sheer speed of work, maybe give it a try. Sometimes, all we need is a different approach to regain control.

Curious if any other #jaws users have noticed some weirdness with copying things to the clipboard lately, especially in #WebBrowsers. I primarily use #MicrosoftEdge but have noticed it in other places too. Take this for example: I'm writing some notes on #WCAG success criteria in #Joplin, getting some information from this page on understanding WCAG. I selected the number and name of SC 1.2.3 and pressed CTRL+C. JAWS should have copied " 1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative (Prerecorded)", but all it copied was "1.2.3 ". I tried this several times, making sure I had all the text selected. It's not the first time it's happened lately, either. I've noticed it for at least the last few weeks, and it's very frustrating. Sometimes I'll switch to #NVDA just because I know it will copy things correctly.

Does anyone else play #WebGames on #Firefox? I really appreciate Firefox for its strong focus on #Accessibility, the fact that it’s #OpenSource, and that
extensions like uBlock Origin still work fully here, unlike on #GoogleChrome. But I’ve been having some issues. When I tried playing a web game, the performance
became sluggish, my #ScreenReader didn’t always activate buttons when I pressed the spacebar, and sometimes the #browser froze completely, leaving me unable
to interact with it.
These problems might push me back to #MicrosoftEdge or Chrome unless there’s a fix. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips?

To #blind users, does anyone play #browser #games or open multiple tabs on #Firefox without the browser slowing to a crawl? I was thinking about switching from #Edge to Firefox, but games that run well in Edge or other Chrome-based browsers make Firefox extremely slow, and it's the same way if I open even a few tabs. My computer is a #BeeLink SER5Pro #miniPC with 32 Gb of RAM and #Windows11Pro.
