I feel as though recently I've seen an increase in leftists for whom "anti-capitalism" is practised as merely apathetic capitalism.

Too many people that use capitalism as an excuse to do whatever they want. Progress in veganism, climate activism, feminism, queer rights, etc. can all wait until after their vision of a revolution comes.

Why build up social movements using strong anti-capitalist foundations when you can use "anti-capitalism" to tear them down instead, relinquishing yourself of the obligation to participate in those movements.

It's something I've found very frustrating, especially considering the current rise of fascism.

If your "leftism" exists merely to delay and hinder social movements until your vision of a post-capitalist world arrives, then in practice you live effectively as a conservative. Leftism isn't about pitting social movements against each other--leftists need to be at the front of all social movements, advancing them as far as they can go in all social and economic contexts.

@loganer @davetroy All kinds of people have been loving and fighting for equity, decency, surviving, and #thriving, long B4 Drumph. Clinton’s, Obama’s, Biden’s, and yes, sister Harris’ #neoliberalism brought us here. How many of y’all cheered when Harris praised the U.S. military as the “most lethal?” I pray y’all remember your rage, and then channel it accordingly, as/if/when we get out of this mess. Moving to the center or dogmatic #leftism ain’t it.

Landlords do not provide housing, they actively make it more scarce by hoarding a strained resource people need to survive. To any extent they may perform a service they are doing so with YOUR income and then just skimming a hefty profit off the top to sit around and own the place.
