#WordWeavers 21. Is there anything that bores you about any of your characters?

They like to greet each other like proper Japanese people. It is terribly boring when I want to get to their conversation. I don't write that part besides saying they greeted each other, so not too bad.

It can also be boring, put some of Ume's high-flying rambling talks in a proper order for readers.

And having a conversation with Kan-chan can be slow. She is not much on talking and uses as few words as she can get away with.

A small price to pay for the entertainment they provide.

Tomo: Tomo’s parents are dead, but it is not inconceivable for a dead person to call the living. This is usually cursed. Don’t answer that phone and if you do, go to a Shinto priest and get a cleansing, FAST.

It might be okay if Tomo’s father called. Tomo remembers him fondly. If it’s Tomo’s mother, see the directions above.

We don’t know if Tomo’s guardians are alive, but he regrets never contacting them. There are good reasons for this. It is not because of ill-will between them. It would be a very dangerous thing to do. But if they called, he would assume it was safe and would want to know how they were doing.

Ume: First, that would be unexpected since they disowned me. But I might listen till they asked for money or started in how I had shamed the family. If they asked for my permission to sell the land, I would make sure it was to Tomo and then shake them down for a %. They don't need to know Tomo and I are married, and it is not him but both of us buying.

Maybe that's not nice to do to your parents, but I don't care. By rights, it should be my land, and they are trying to cheat me.

#scribesandmakers 29/3 What is your proudest or best moment with your creative endeavor. Part 2

Met my self-imposed deadline of having volume 3 finished in rough draft. Missed the milestone of having them ready for beta readers. Instead, I have four rough draft chapters of volume 4 and did an edit sweep implementing some improvements I stumbled into.. Partly due to one of the prompts. This took longer than normal because I’m still learning the correct balance.

I still might meet that second deadline… Wait Monday is a WinCo trip. Nope, won’t make it.

But volume 3 is now fully drafted.

#scribesandmakers 25.03.01 What are your goals for the month?

Wrap up writing volume 3 of Konbini Idol and get everything in beta or post-beta drafts.

Some minor research on minor historical/mythical characters for volume 4, “For Love of a Konbini Idol, I Fought a Cult.”

Start V4. I would like to get a few chapters ready, so I’m not scrambling to keep my publication schedule and see if there is anything I need to foreshadow in V3. Minimum is having a clearer outline of the major events of the story.

Depending on RL events I may also start an edit sweep on volume 2 to ready it for enovel publication and a last polish on vol. 1. Depends on if I get a rejection notice or not. I have some new tools and techniques to catch any last error. I also have a few things I wish I’d foreshadowed earlier. #KonbiniIdol
