If you don’t give a shit that FOSDEM is sponsored by Google and is being keynoted by a billionaire Silicon Valley people farmer, you don’t give a shit about the “F” in the name. Which is fine, because neither do they and neither does much of the “open source” world. Open source, after all, is “open” as in “open for business” not “free” as in “freedom.”

@interfluidity @11112011 My problem with that take is you have multiple people who want the president's ear who are competing in a private sector. Let's say that #MarkZuckerberg had #Obama's ear during his administration, for example. Do you think that #JackDorsey was happy with that because they have similar aims? No, I'm sure #JackDorsey would love to replace #MarkZuckerberg's position of influence in that scenario.

TL;DR most people who compete compete to do the same thing.

@xtaldave Jack Dorsey completely left the board of Bluesky on May 2024 and cut all ties with Bluesky. I think he has no shares either, can't confirm it though. However, if he "lost all interest" like he said, I wonder why he'd want to have any shares of it. Dorsey's main focus is in Nostr.
