In 2021, #Biden became the first American president to formally recognize #IndigenousPeoples’ Day, vowing to “honor America’s first inhabitants & the #TribalNations that continue to thrive today.”
But Biden did not rename the longstanding holiday, which is still officially known as #ColumbusDay. While several states & dozens of cities recognize the holiday as Indigenous Peoples’ Day, it is not considered a federal holiday, though there have been occasional efforts in Congress to make it one.

With his declaration, #Trump appeared to be referring to a proclamation issued by President Joe #Biden in 2021. That decree also recognized the day as #IndigenousPeoples’ Day, which recognizes the #Indigenous communities that have lived in the Americas for thousands of years, & called for it to be celebrated ALONGSIDE #ColumbusDay.
Last weekend, Last year, I was in Timmins, ON dancing at Northern College pow wow. Monday afternoon, last year, after the pow wow my ex hu?b**d came and got me & took back to Wawa, ON to his house. The next day, he drove me back to Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabe Pic Mobert, ON my home.

The involvement of Munduruku people in illegal mining inside the Munduruku Indigenous Territory made Brazil’s efforts to stop it more complicated, federal officials said.
Munduruku sources told Mongabay that deception, abandonment by the state and a lack of alternative income sources are what push some Munduruku people to mine.
