What with all the Tron news around at the moment I must (a) re-watch both of the old films and (b) I’m seriously considering renaming my home assistant Pi from HAL-9000 to MCP. Previously HAL-9000 after I’d automated the garage door - “open the pod bay door, HAL”, now thinking of what the MCP might do if it decides to disagree with me…

We need a ChatGPT-type LLM with a conversational mode, feeding a text-to-speech engine with Douglas Rain's voice.

Maybe if people heard "AI" bullshit with Hal's voice, they'd be a little more skeptical about its *content* ?
