Trump’s attempt to turn attention away from the story only drew attention to it.

For the first time ever, Trump got ratioed on his own platform, meaning that there were more comments on his post than likes or shares, showing disapproval of his message. According to Newsweek, by 10:45 this morning it had more than 36,000 replies but only 11,000 reposts and 32,000 likes.

#TimeManager Part 23: File under Gruesome

“The main event.” Castaneda waved at a colorful procession. At the end was a single-#file line of people in wooden yokes. “Allies or enemies, they all get eaten.”

“Enough.” Poe picked up the comatose Raven.

TM agreed and grabbed a random timeline. Castaneda’s sun-bleached house faded, replaced by a mist-enshrouded moor and a crude stone croft.

Raven woke, shook her feathers, and screamed, “Wet!”

The croft looked warmly inviting, so they entered.

Inside, on the table, were bacon, biscuits, handcuffs, and the file used on them.

Poe selected the file and, making sawing motions, said, “File that adventure under gruesome.”

The weird, partial amnesia was a problem. He remembered he had a Swiss bank account. He remembered which bank. He remembered his account number, and his password for accessing the account.

He did not remember his own name, where he lived, what he did, or what he'd done.

One other thing he knew was that there was a tripwire set up to alert... somebody... if he tried to access the account. The banker would be shown a dossier on him.

He needed to see that #file.

She took his paws in her tiny hands and inspected his huge claws.
"Hmm. I think you could do with a buff and a shine, Mr. Bear."
"I don't think there's…"
"It won't take but a minute, sir! Just wait here!"
She ran to a nearby SpeedRunner and returned a few moments later with a small case. She pulled out a nail #file and started to work on the rough edges of his claws.
"Don't you think this world is moving too fast, Mr. Bear?"
"Too fast?" (2/3) #wss366

In May 2024, in a huge win for digital government in the United States,
the Treasury Department announced #Direct #File would be a permanent, free tax filing option.

✅A government survey of 11,000+ filers had found that 90% ranked the user experience was “Excellent” or “Above Average,” after a pilot with ~140,000 Americans,
saving an estimated $5.6 million.

✅Over the last year, the IRS has kept building, coming tantalizingly close to the vision of prepopulating a tax return with the data the Treasury already holds about us,
including name, address, Social Security number… and a W-2, according to the New York Times.

🆘What’s less clear is whether Direct File will survive this administration: newly confirmed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Congress that it would operate this tax season during his confirmation hearing,
-- but only said he’d “study” it for the future, signaling doubt.

⚠️It will be an early test for whether a historic success in digital delivery can survive the ire of corporations who want it to go away in the Trump age.

Debra from Legal invited Angira to the executive lounge on the 15th floor.

"Is it really ok for me to be here?" Angira asked, looking around at the damask-upholstered chairs, the polished desks...the everything. "I didn't think rank-and-#file members of the organization were allowed."

Debra smiled. "You're with me." She poured Angira a coffee. "Let's about talk your complaint on the whistleblower tip line."

Angira's mouth felt dry. "I thought that line was anonymous."
