Hot take: the FSFE uses "open source" as a synonym for free software because then we can hold companies using "open" as a marketing term accountable to the four freedoms. It's not a lax replacement.

@peteorrall The FOSS community is mostly volunteer-run projects. I don't think accessibility is an afterthought in FOSS, but lacking because the funding for development is so terribly hoarded on the side of for-profit ventures.
It's I think a product of finance capitalism that tech, esp. FOSS, lacks good accessibility features. There is some sun behind the clouds, like, e.g., the #FSFE doing good work in policy to level the playing field so #FOSS can have a real chance of developing.

Just been to the Danish premiere of "Ada & Zangermann" - the movie. (https://ada.fsfe.org)
It struck me it had quite a bit of similarities to @pluralistic 's "unauthorized bread".
Turns out, not only was that story part of the inspiration. Cory also helped in the initial production of the book.
