Folks, there's nothing worse than paying for an #escaperoom that's filled with nothing but "find a bunch of numbers" & "plug them into a combo lock to open a box".

I've created multiple "escape rooms" in our own home during the pandemic for my kid using this tired puzzle trope.

(I'm looking at you "Maze Rooms LA".)

In case you missed it... last week I announced a big new project: the Center for Immersive Arts, an immersive history project and archive! cfia.org

I'm exploring the history of alternate reality games, theater, LARP, escape rooms, theme parks, VR/XR, and more

(Check out the thread for details!)

XOXO ZoneLaura E. Hall (@lauraehall@xoxo.zone)I'm excited to share a new project (and a Patreon to support my work on it)! ✨ The Center for Immersive Arts is dedicated to preserving, exploring and educating about immersive history: http://cfia.org / http://patreon.com/CenterForImmersiveArts

I'm looking for info about immersive entertainment in different countries, especially those where English is not the primary language. If you're reading this, maybe you can help?

Curious about immersive theater (like Sleep No More), escape rooms, puzzle games, alternate reality games, role playing...

Things I want to know:
- what are the experiences called?
- when was the first one in the country?
- what influenced it?
- is it popular?
- what came next?

So I also did an upload of this straight from my phone to my instance but it seems to be stuck in limbo, so I might have posted this twice by the time you see it.

Progress of my #RCAVictor radio - after my usual struggle to integrate new concepts I got volume up/down and mute/unmute working.

Next will be tuning, and a rudimentary needle display.
