Help needed #Google #GoogleDocs #GoogleDrive
Background: I often make Google documents to share with students to edit, set to public, no login required.
Problem: Today it seems that something called "Canva Integrations" is required for somebody to access a newly made public/edit Google Doc link. This is pervasive across several Google logins, including my work-based enterprise access.
Older Google Docs, including as recent as last week do not seem affected.
Is this Google's new business model? Something else?
Google Hit With Lawsuit Over Data Collection on School Kids
Nor for nothing, but this is the same issue some parents in Toronto and I tried to raise against Google years ago -- and Google told me that their relationship was with their clients -- the schools -- and the schools consented. It was up to the schools, they claimed, to seek parental consent.

I wrote a short article about a multi-week unit we wrapped up today in my middle school web design class, in which students created "Media Kits" using images and information from The Smithsonian, The US Library of Congress, or NASA.

I have wondered if having a lot of trees could improve student achievement. It turns out that community tree canopy directly affects student achievement and there is a study that shows the connection between tree canopy and test scores. Check out my conversation with one of the researchers that found this connection.
I think Im about to step out of academic life now. Ofc its easier for me, Ive had my 20 years of study, lecturing, paper writing, app making and phd doing. I can step away, Im older, I can afford to. But Im not tired or bored, Im angry, appalled, Im not able to carry on because Im ethically so compromised. I just cannot be part of this charade for big tech extractive grifting anymore. Im with Miyazaki.

Getting caught up on stuff I fell behind on while teaching that extra #AdultESOL class January to March.
For example, finally finished a script for #Google Sheets that will create Forms in the given languages automagically. Easiest way I know of to get multilingual Forms.
Next, a Sheets script to create Forms and email to editors and respondents.
Then, I'll create the diplomas in #Scribus. Use #ScribusGenerator (https://github.com/berteh/ScribusGenerator/) to "mail merge" them.

"But what we’ve already seen in academia is that the use cases for artificial intelligence across every domain of work and life have started to get silly really fast. Most of us aren’t using A.I. to save lives faster and better. We are using A.I. to make mediocre improvements, such as emailing more."
