Enough of the unseasonal plants! Here's one that's doing what it is supposed to when it's supposed to - Cotinus Royal Purple - only it's turning orange.

A little bit of seasonal colour to end the day. This is Spiral of Life by Andy Scott up against the autumnal trees at the West of Scotland Science Park on Maryhill Road in Glasgow (just!). The two seem to go rather well together.
The light yesterday at Woodlands Hall was absolutely sublime, just perfect for soaking up all that autumnal beauty #AutumnColour #FantasticFoliage #UKGardens #GardenersofMastodon #Ginkgobiloba #Acerpalmatum #Taxodiumdistichum #Quercusrobur #Fagussylvatica #BloomScrolling
Wild autumnal happenings at Woodlands Hall... Acer palmatum 'Linearilobum', a very satisfying but as yet unidentified Acer palmatum in a pleasing tangerine shade (any suggestions welcome) Ginkgo biloba and Acer palmatum Sango-Kaku syn. @nature Just a random photo from #October 02- things are already much more bare and looking very #PreWinter!

A day late, and more than 1 dollar short (for those not familiar, that's an old expression, if you are not on time, and otherwise lacking- "A day late and a dollar short")- anyway, here's #FlowersOnFriday nothing new blooming at this season, but some of the regulars keep on trooping-and -slight cheat- other things looking good in #seed and #fruit !

#AutumnColour with a bit of #sun and a good dose of #rain for #SixOnSaturday
One native plant -the Lysimachia - in an area of #MarginalGarden (in this case meaning a spot that was planted, mostly natives/near natives, then largely left to do its own thing), plus one non-native shrub left to its own (and the moose's!) devices -the Cornus-. The rest are #NativePlants wild on the acreage or just outside.
#foliage not quite #florespondence or #BloomScrolling but same folks might enjoy? #Alberta
I've been making an #altar for #AutumnEquinox (and some of the other key #Solar dates) for some years now. Several years back it gained an extra level of meaning for me, as my Mother died at this time.
Now, the altar marks the #season : the richness of #fruit and #flower and #seed of remaining #green and burgeoning #AutumnColour as #Saule turns her face to the south and #LeafMother paints the world in jewel tones. (cont)

@nature #SixOnSaturday Still lots of green but it's more fun to look at #AutumnColour ! There's more of it every day (especially with some frosts).
Plus: there are still #flowers for #pollinators lots of #mushrooms and the year-round #birds are in the yard more with chicks grown up (and kitty gone )

A #SlowWalk for #SevenOnSunday (unlike a hike, a slow walk is not about going someplace, it is about
#being someplace -of course hikes *can* do this too).
Colours just starting to tip over into #autumn #LeafMother starts with the understory, forbs and shrubs and begins to dull the greens in preparation for the over the top displays to come.

Loganberries (Rubus × loganobaccus) have quite beautiful autumn colours which can last into January. The berries are really tasty, very juicy and aromatic but can be a bit tart if harvested when not fully ripe. This is a fruit you would never find in the shops as the berries need to be eaten quite soon after harvesting as they don`t keep for long. #fruit #autumncolour #winter
