#Fernsehen 🇩🇪

@vwestlife #Funfact: In #Europe, #Cband dishes weren't common so #SatelliteInternet used simiar #Tuner cards with #VSAT terminals, usually accepting downlinks from regular commercial #TV #satellites that were just data channels on #ASTRA and/or #Eutelsat #HotBird in the #KuBand...

  • Later they got some fancy "SAT-Routers" that combines a #DVB-S downlink and an #analog #56k / #ISDN modem for uplink if not offered to use #2G #mobile networks as well...

I've got one of those:

Basically a #Router with some #Linux on Ethernet, Power & F-Screw-Connector on the rear, #56k& #ISDN #Modem|s and USB up-front.

  • And yes, I used that to share a #dialup connection with multiple devices, because they can do that!

Footage of the aftermath of today's #ATACMS strike on a military unit in #Russian_Taganrog has appeared. This is the location of the #5th aviation group of the #6955th airbase.

According to #ASTRA's source, ambulances have been driving from the military unit since the morning, and access to the military town's territory is closed.

Thus, there were two hits in #Taganrog today: on the #325th aircraft repair plant (second part of the video) and the military unit of the airbase.

Right, that would be the problem then.

Cable broke or revenge of the ferret for getting kicked out of the attic?

Had to fumble out the entire cable and sensor because no way I can splice that while under there.

Sensor nut on the exhaust was on proper tight and I got some exercise and came up with previously unused swear vocabulary.

Off to the soldering desk. Can warm myself up too. Cold wind!

#FreeToAir #TV vs #ASTRA (#streaming services) are each a bunch of rent seekers squabbling over the "right" for everyone's attention.

And just as the "invisible hand of the market" decrees, the outcome will be decided by who has the better paid lobbyists.

(NARRATOR: Dave does not own a television, and mostly has no idea what he would see on it if he did.)

ABC News · Is the government really trying to control your TV? Here's what its proposal on streaming apps means for youBy Matthew Doran

"The string of chronic issues bred frustration, ultimately leading to all but two of Apollo Fusion engineers and staff leaving the company, LinkedIn data and interviews with multiple sources show."

Oof. Glad I didn't sink any money into Astra after announcing their shift to satellite engines. Dead company walking!
