The video for “Nishike” (Touch me) by Sauti Sol was censored & banned from TV airing in Kenya due to “pornographic content”…
Could be considered NSFW – What do you think?
It’s from album “Live and Die in Afrika”, the third studio album by Kenyan afro-pop band, released in 2015.

Stewart Copeland - The Rhythmatist
Another favorite #drummer in the cheap bin today. Great fusion of #afrobeat #AfroPop #newWave and #pop in this #soundtrack album. I used to have the #k7 of this when it was new. Nice to have it on #vinyl @vinylrecords #crateDigging #nowPlaying
Saturday morning soundtrack. The great Maroon Commandos. The B section just slays me.
Can't believe I'm really going to MSG to see Gims in a couple days!
In honor of that I'll be posting some more of my favorite Gims music videos. Like this one, "Tout donner", which depicts your basic Bonnie and Clyde love story
Don't ask me for the moon
I have much better for you
My steps are heavy
Because I have taken on so much
Your gaze shines for me
What's in your chest, that's for me
Allez je t'ai tout donné
Tout donné
Tout donné
Tout donné
Tu es tout ce que j'ai
Tout ce que j'ai
Tout ce que j'ai
Tout ce que j'ai
Go on, I gave given you everything
everything given
everything given
You are all I have
all I have
all I have
all I have

4/ My #Afropop #playlist is extensive - featuring music videos from all over the continent. Tuareg rock from the north, choirs and Lucky Dube from the south - and everything in between. Special attention to West African Griots, guitarists and Kora players. #youtube #Music #MusicVideo #AfricanMusic https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE6DB27B73B588787&si=EV3xeWVeWhq2S0w5
This morning's #workout #music is an episode of Night Music from 1989 featuring Youssou N'Dour, Habib Faye, Philip Bailey, Ambitious Lovers, Marcus Roberts, George Duke. This one also samples from 35 year old advertising, big hair, and casual blazers. Marcus Roberts' "Blue Monk" is a highlight. #jazz #AfroPop #80s #NoWave
Sunlight To My Soul
https://amf.didiermary.fr/rss-club/sunlight-soul-angelique-kidjo/
“Sunlight To My Soul” is the brand new AfroPop song by Angelique Kidjo, featuring the Soweto Gospel Choir. Composed by songwriter Diane Warren, the song is probably meant to become an anthem to optimism and a bright future, and is supported by a colorful video.
This week's best Americana's got synthy folk from Anna Tivel, dreamy afropop from Jon Muq, commanding empowerment and self love from the great Angelica Garcia, bayou Roy Orbison from The Lostines, and socialist marching band music from the Brass Band of Columbus!

As I sit here in a dentist chair waiting for my jaw to numb here’s some great #afropop with #steelguitar
#worldmusic #guitar #mastomusic
I've had a long love affair with #worldmusic, not the least of which is the guitar work in #Afropop, #Soukous, etc.
Here's the outro of a tune on our 2012 record. My man Danny Gotham showed up to the session with his #ParkerFly to lay down a guitar part. I then transcribed his solo and wrote a harmonized line to it. He takes the first turn, then me on my #Heritage 375, then us together with the harmonized part.
#TBT Early on in the #pandemic we found a way to not go crazy by doing remote recordings. I'd lay down the scratch track, pass around to everybody who in turn recorded their part. Then I'd do the audio and video editing. Sometimes took some effort to sync everything correctly!
This is a piece we did for an online #PaulSimon Tribute show benefitting a local immigrant org.
I cribbed the outro guitar parts from a great Maroon Commandos track.
