#WestVirginia Couple #Sentenced to 375 Years Collectively for Forcing Black Children to Work 'as #Slaves'

Deputies broke into a shed on the property, where they found a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old locked inside a 20-by-14-foot room. The children had no way of getting out on their own, no running water, no bathrooms and had been denied hygienic care, the sheriff's office said.

🚨 VICTORY! 🚨

The people have defeated the Mountain Pure water bottling project!

This massive facility would have extracted a proposed 1.7 million gallons of water every day FOR FREE and then sold the end product back to people for profit.

This would have driven up consumer costs and put even more immense pressure on an already distressed water table.

NWS explains why ‘#MudRain’ fell across #WestVirginia

McKenna Galloway, Sat, March 8, 2025

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — "On Friday evening, many in West Virginia noticed something was making their cars dirty. As it turns out, this was a unique weather phenomenon is known as 'mud rain', but what exactly is it, and why did it come to West Virginia? The explanation is actually quite simple.

"According to a Facebook post from the US National Weather Service in Charleston (#NWS), the mud rain or ‘dirty rain’ so many experienced Friday was the result of dust being blown in from the southwest and southern plains, which was then 'brought down with falling precipitation.'"

In the middle of biblical-sized flooding, West Virginia's state legislators are debating criminalizing #homelessness.

Our lawmakers are fast-tracking the legislative process to roll back water protections, while access to drinking water is consistently the number one issue when our infrastructure is overwhelmed by rain.

If that is not enough, they also want to abolish the practice of people electing U.S. Senators by calling for the repeal of the 17th amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The MVP Southgate is an extension on
the dirty, dangerous, and unnecessary Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) in Virginia and West Virginia.

Its a spur to connect the existing MVP route across the border of Virginia into North Carolina.

The MVP has been defeated multiple times, now we need to do it again - and we have only been given until March 11 to comment!

Another great meeting of #MountaineersIndivisible today. We're a nonpartisan, pro-democracy group based in Morgantown, #WestVirginia, working to oppose the illegal, unjust, and immoral actions of the Trump administration.

I don't know how many of us there were today, but it was a lot. We broke into small groups, and I'd estimate about 1 in 4 in our group were attending for the first time. Morgantown is not exactly a hotbed of political activity, but people are PISSED, and we have momentum. In towns and cities across America, people are organizing to defend democracy. It's not a popular narrative for the mainstream media, but we're out there and we're ready to fight back, even in deep red West Virginia.

Some great progress at today's meeting. Keep an eye out for our official Mastodon account soon.
