Here’s another example of contrast. In the background, a banner for the Olympic Games shows all the celebration and success. But up front, there’s a duvet and a pair of shoes on a park bench—just a reminder of homelessness. It’s easy to look away, clean up, and keep moving. But how often do we stop and think about how quickly anyone could end up in that situation? When safety nets fail, the reality becomes impossible to ignore.
And just to be clear, I’m not posting this to get likes or attention. I really couldn’t care less if anyone likes my photos. What I want to show is the side we usually look past. Maybe we need to remind ourselves more often of how lucky we are? We often take our comfort for granted, but it’s fragile. Small changes in circumstances can have a big impact.
I could also question myself, whether it’s fair or not to expose these people. But then again, what’s the alternative? Ignoring them entirely?
