This abandoned church stands on a small hill, making it a prominent landmark. It was built in the 1880s in the Gothic style. During the early 2010s, the church was declared redundant and closed. The closure was in response to shrinking congregation sizes, as well as a lack of funds to repair the roof.

Built in the 1950s, it has clearly been abandoned for many decades (still trying to find out exactly how long!). There is a huge swimming pool, as well as a decaying gymnasium.

Exploring a former army base in eastern #Germany 🇩🇪

After #WW2, it was occupied by the Soviet Union Air Force until it was #abandoned in 1994. I spent quite some time scouring the airbase for this bas relief depicting an MiG (possibly a MiG-27). It was hidden in a most unusual place, and I had almost given up hope. But finally, I found it isit as that light began to fade 🌅

I explored a former psychiatric hospital in Ireland

The hospital was the county’s first of such facilities, dating back to the early 1800s. A relic from a time when mental health was poorly understood.

Around the turn of the century, the hospital finally closed its doors.

The hulking figure looms against the skyline, a painful reminder for many families.
