What they don't tell you about total solar eclipses is the sky darkens right over you, and at the horizon you see a sunrise/sunset effect...only it's in every direction. Truly breathtaking. My capture of a particularly sublime one on April 8, 2024: "Ultimate Shadow".

Having never photographed a #SolarEclipse I had no idea what I was doing and rolled with it in the moment. I’m pretty happy with the final product, it turned out better than I expected! Definitely a wild experience

Not that I was just pointing an iPad with an added optical lens up at the sky. I wasn’t aiming for high quality photos… just more to have some memories of an amazing experience.

I was here to witness #totality today, and it was breathtaking. The 360⁰ sunset was wild. The sudden drop in temperature gave me goosebumps.
Making a friend laugh til she couldn't breath talking about pre-historic man going about their day until suddenly the *sun goes out!* Aaaaaagh, and then a few short minutes later, "Nevermind, we're all good." was priceless.
~3 minutes of totality was worth it.
Totality in my neighborhood was sublime! The temperature drop was magnificent, and because there was no sun for around four minutes, I could strip off my hat and face mask and scarf and gloves...

Eclipse in Dallas was a total success. The clouds cleared JUST in time.

My only good shot from totality (after I remembered to take the filter off the lens! 
). Totality was amazing and so I was drinking it all in. Temps dropped a good 10 degrees F, mosquitoes came out, the birds stopped singing, everyone’s solar lights came on, and it was incredibly dark. Really amazing!
And then it was over and everything started returning to normal!
