I painted the totality from memory. What an awe-inspiring experience! #eclipse #totality #solareclipse

This seemed like the perfect occasion to finally launch a substack. Wow! Science, Tech, and Nature will share what I'm working on - mostly articles and books for young people (or anyone who's curious!) I hope you'll join.

I never want to forget the experience of #totality on 4/8/24: a cosmic event that put everything into perspective, the cheers of the crowd, the darkness and sudden cold.

Feels like staring into this strange orb left an indelible mark (when you stare into the abyss…?)

Initiation into something I don’t yet understand

Hold onto this feeling.

I played a bit with TikTok last night and compiled a series of photos showing the progression of the eclipse here in Vermont:

There was of course only one song that could be used as the musical background 🤣

Not that I was just pointing an iPad with an added optical lens up at the sky. I wasn’t aiming for high quality photos… just more to have some memories of an amazing experience.

I was here to witness #totality today, and it was breathtaking. The 360⁰ sunset was wild. The sudden drop in temperature gave me goosebumps.
Making a friend laugh til she couldn't breath talking about pre-historic man going about their day until suddenly the *sun goes out!* Aaaaaagh, and then a few short minutes later, "Nevermind, we're all good." was priceless.

~3 minutes of totality was worth it.

My only good shot from totality (after I remembered to take the filter off the lens! 🤦‍♂️🤣). Totality was amazing and so I was drinking it all in. Temps dropped a good 10 degrees F, mosquitoes came out, the birds stopped singing, everyone’s solar lights came on, and it was incredibly dark. Really amazing!
And then it was over and everything started returning to normal!
