Elon Musk claims Tesla will deploy a fleet of self driving taxis in June. Tesla has said they'll make a ride hailing up and were running with "robotaxi" and "cybercab" branding throughout their talk about this new vehicle and service.
But turns out they got denied the key trademarks.... Which imo is the least of their worries that may delay launch.

Interesting to note that Waymo apparently uses a modified Jaguar I-Pace which had reliability problems and will be discontinued by Jaguar in 2025.[1, 2]
Also Waymo "says it may use videos of passengers captured by in-vehicle cameras to sell ads and train its AI models"

Just wondering if autonomous taxis are cleared to operate in #Tokyo [1] whether it leads to the "Total Recall" Johnny Cab [2] or the robotic police car in Ray Bradbury's "The Pedestrian" [3] and whether the Japanese public would be less hesitant to accept them than a human-driven Uber ride [4].

Tesla Got a Permit to Operate a Taxi Service in California—but There’s a Catch
The taxi service will initially operate with #Tesla employee drivers only, use current-model vehicles, and won’t allow for driverless rides.
Whoa. The former CEO of Waymo thinks the upcoming #robotaxi service from #Tesla may be "fake." https://electrek.co/2025/03/14/waymo-ceo-tesla-robotaxi-launch-fake/
The True Believers will keep it inflated for as long as possible, but global anti-american sentiment, Elon's fashy flag flying, and a dated product line are going to do more damage to Tesla than any good his ham-handed rollout of autonomous taxis would have done. And you just know thats going to be botched. And there will be a LOT of media attention on #robotaxi 's first fatalities. Tesla as it is now is done
#Tesla claims it will launch its #robotaxi service in June, but its "full self-driving" system keeps causing crashes.
