#BadPicsOfFood for today, after finishing work for the day and going to do the grocery shopping... I treated myself to a latte, mini jam donut and choc chip cookie for a mid afternoon sugar rush.

It's actually the first thing I've eaten all day... ran out of crumpets for my breakfast and was debating if I should have some lunch before shopping for food... or risk the hunger driving my purchases... hunger purchasing won. 🤔 😆

I will at least have a proper dinner this evening... some of the lamb casserole I made on Sunday, topped with crispy sliced potatoes.

#BadPicsOfFood today should possibly be called good.

It's a very simple pasta bake, but made my way to spice it up a little.

300g of smoked pancetta and ham, fried off in some butter. Add in a tomato and bacon sauce (500g), bring up to a simmer. Add in a 250g tub of mascapone, and letit all mix in and bring back to a simmer. Throw in about 100g of mozzarella, and you get a nice thick cheesy sauce... too cheesy.

So throw in a load of tomato puree until it has a slight tomato tang again.

Cook up 500g of pasta, divide into various dishes, pour over and mix in the sauce. Sprinkle the top with a mix of strong cheddar and mozzarella and pop in the oven for about 30 mins to get a nice crispy topping... or if the sauce/pasta is still hot, under the grill to achieve the same result.

Also take a nice flatbread, smother with garlic and herb butter, some more cheddar and mozzarella and also pop under the gril until crispy and slightly burnt around the edges (oops)

There's enough for at least 5 or 6 portions.

#BadPicsOfFood today... is it a wrap, is it a burrito... whatever it is, it's toasted, flattened... and filled with diced ham, pepperoni, onion, oak smoked cheese & BBQ sauce.

Nice quick lunch at my desk today... plumber is in making noise and turning on/off water and heating a load... It's hard to work with the noise, so working & eating whilst he goes for lunch.

Sirloin steak, marinated in maggi, pepper and garlic for 4hrs, seared and then cooked in unsalted melted butter until medium rare.

Onions & mushrooms pan fried in the juices and turned into a sauce to be scooped... not poured, this stuff is so thick you could stand a spoon up in it.

On the side was salad potatoes, cut into thick slices, seasoned with a bit of rapeseed oil, salt & pepper and then pan friend until crispy.

Opened a tin of marrowfat peas to throw on the side... because I like them.

Perfection on a plate.

#BadPicsOfFood today is turkey, gammon, carrot & onion in a mushroom sauce. Sliced, seasoned & airfried salad potatoes, and topped with a slice of puff pastry.

I cheated, we had a ready roll of pastry in the fridge. So I thought I'd see how it would come out if done in the airfryer.

The answer is excellent... A square piece on a bit of baking paper, about 7 mins, flip it over and another 3 mins to crisp up the bottom (ooer missus) and you've got perfectly flaky pastry.

It's not the same as making a complete pie... but it's a lot quicker. No need to use the oven at all for anything. Cook the filling in a sautee pan on the hob and serve.
