Dear Google - kindly and sincerely, get fucked. In 2013 we built a new house and installed Nest thermostats in each of the 3 HVAC zones because we wanted the house to be energy efficient. A year ago, one of the thermostats got bumped so I replaced it. The same model wasn't available so I took what I could get. This thermostat has a serious bug - when heating, about once a month it would call for heat and never shut it off. There have been no firmware updates and none scheduled. Recently you announced that these thermostats are no longer supported by the Nest app. You "generously" offered discounts on current models. Yeah...no. I got three refurbished ecobee thermostats for less than 2 of your replacements.
Isn't your mantra supposed to be "don't be evil?"

Wow, had the shittiest web experience probably ever trying the #Couchsurfing site:
- no warning on sign-up that you actually have to pay
- email spam once a day telling me to do stuff I can’t do as I haven’t paid
- unsubscribe link brings up a page that needs tens of checkboxes to be unchecked to actually unsubscribe to things
- decided to just delete the account which requires … a recaptcha, because why not annoy the user even more at this stage!
- account deletion just responds with an error
Anyway, we’ll probably just do what we’ve always done and find the one setting that cleans the clothes and just keep pushing that button for the next 5 - 10 years. Apps be damned.

Nah, doesn’t work anyway. Needs a 2.4ghz network and Virgin router only putting out 5Ghz.

Setting up a fucking app to use a new washing machine is bad enough but oh of course it needs access to my precise location in order to do it. Never mind the list of tracking and privacy waivers it tried to trick me into agreeing to when setting up the pointless account.

My brother had been using wifi battery monitors on his, his girlfriend's, and my cars for the last few years since we don't drive every day. Apparently they were dependent on a cloud service that the company discontinued, bricking them all! 
In looking up if anyone has found a way to use them without the cloud, I just found vendors still selling the now useless devices. The Deltran Battery Tender 081-0172.

at this point what's the purpose of Smart TVs? they've been completely enshittified, and you can easily have it replaced with a huge monitor
