A portrait of the individual that is calling by the "red squirrel" hide, in search of the food put out for them.
Needless to say, we've been adding to the food, so this gorgeous character has a supply too.

Ptarmigan
A male sitting in the spring sunshine, high on the hills of the west coast of Scotland today.
The weather this March has been unbelievably good, and just keeps going. #Gruoch is enjoying the sunshine, too.
The pessimist in me can't help thinking "we'll pay for this later". 
Fascinating story from the #Highlands of #Scotland. Hugh Miller was a leader in the opposition to patronage in the #Church of Scotland and one of the leaders of the Free Church formed in protest. But he was also a pioneer in #geology, making discoveries which put in question literalist interpretations of the #Bible's #creation story in #Genesis

What People Do
Lovely bit of dappled sunlight on the mountains. Scots Pines of the Caledonian Forest growing on the slopes. River trickling through a gorge.
Path intruding.
Disused quarry a gaping wound on the hillside.
Full of refuse - 10 oil tanks, a caravan, farm slurry tanker and a boat amongst other things.
A year ago, the quarry floor was also full of rainwater with oil-slick rainbows.
