This week-end I continue to code the v2.0 version of Bidioo in Delphi. This is a match-3 game I've created in 2013 with AppGameKit and AGKBasic.

Today I added the game screen on the new version.

Here is the result : youtu.be/1AhCZlLLu00

Tomorrow I'll work on the animations and the alternatives game modes.

Bidioo v2 - work in progress

Day 1 : I recreated the bases of the game in my Delphi game starter kit. I have the icons as buttons, a dialog box, home and credits scene.

Tomorrow I'll finish the others scenes and start working on the game scene.

Not sure it will be finished in 3 days. I don't remember how much time I worked on it in AGK Basic in 2013...

The source codes are available for both (Delphi and AGK) on my GitHub account.

The Ludum Dare 57 game jam is underway for the weekend. The theme is “Depths”. Time to wake up, and maybe it'll inspire me enough to get started on a new video game to create in 2 days (and beyond).

To find out more, meet me on Twitch (and my 2 YouTube channels) at around 10.30 a.m. until noon for some coding, which will be done in Delphi once the ideas are in place and the graphic elements have been selected.

Mission accomplished. Installed first version of #Delphi from 1995 inside WfW 3.11 from the original install CD. In the moment I install the whole stuff inside #DosBoxX and transfer the hdd image to SD cards later. My trap: Don't use cpu with prefetch, comes to av while starting Delphi.
It's not really an OS, but it did have a significant impact on the look of many programs during this time. And some of them didn't change their look significantly over the years ;)

#introduction

VA3KZR as of 2023-12-09

Started with #Commodore Vic-20 - at school, we learned graphical #LOGO on PETS and Apple IIe's... crashed the school Unisys ICON network far too often...

Headed to college, *thought* I would be heavily involved in, electronics design, and engineering - instead, it was #programming.

First was #VisualBasic 1.0; next, Borland #Delphi 1.0 / #ObjectPascal - still dabble with #FreePascal #Lazarus, a smidge of #Java, a lot of #CSharp and some #Python.

Who me? Just a #Maker, IT Consultant and "all-around-#nerd".

I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons, original #StarTrek re-runs, reading #Fantasy & #SciFi (not SyFy), lots of #Lego and eventually graduated to #RPG and #tabletop gaming.

My first computer was a #Commodore Vic-20 - at school, we learned graphical #LOGO on PETS and Apple IIe's... crashed the Unisys ICON network often before getting my first PC - grudgingly - really wanted an #Amiga.

Eventually, it was time for college - I *thought* I would be heavily involved in the physical aspects of technology, circuit design, and hardware engineering - instead, I gravitated to #programming.

My first professional #programming language was #VisualBasic 1.0; eventually, jumping into Borland #Delphi 1.0 and #ObjectPascal - still dabble with #FreePascal #Lazarus, a smidge of #Java, a lot of #CSharp and some #Python. My #JavaScript is ancient...

#introduction

Been coding since I was 9yo or so, #Delphi. Then 56k internet caught me, self-taught HTML, JS, and later PHP — for quite a while.

Studying CS brought me on the proper path to #Java, now earning bucks as Java dev. Love #Agile and #Pragmatism, fascinated by the mechanisms of teams and orgs. Learn, share & improve through ensemble sessions, #TDD, Katas etc.pp. Read a lot.

Besides? Father of two, crush on Rhodes and Hammond Organ; I miss hiking and meditations. Too altruistic.
