Before a presentation at the #ComputerHistoryMuseum (I think in 2019) seated up front I happened to notice Donald Knuth (largely thanks to his name tag).
I introduced myself and thanked him for his work, which of course has had a big impact on mine.

@bitsplusatoms @kenshirriff Ken is *amazing*! Such a humble & nice & competent person! I wish I could meet him (and #CuriousMarc ) some day!! But living in Germany doesn‘t make it easy … And back in 2013 when I was in California and visited the #ComputerHistoryMuseum I didn‘t know about them.

@rzbrk Look what I found in my photo library – photos of a #pdp8/e and a #pdp11/20 I took in 2013 at the #ComputerHistoryMuseum in Palo Alto!
I wonder if @kenshirriff could tell us more about these, if they’re still there today and if they actually work?!
At the #ComputerHistoryMuseum, I happened to meet both Don Knuth and Margaret Hamilton.
(When I was there a few weeks ago, I had also met Bob Metcalfe.)
Congratulations Nolan Bushnell and Allan Alcorn for being inducted into the Computer History Museum 's Hall of Fellows!
Yesterday at Silicon Valley's #ComputerHistoryMuseum I finally met Bob Metcalf, who co-invented Ethernet.
I had mentioned that, around 2007 when CHM solicited nominations for its wall of fellows, I nominated him. (He was inducted in 2008.) He thanked me.
It was a brief moment and I feel like I was tooting my own horn a bit, but he was gracious and a real class act.

THE GEEK WAY: A Handbook for a New Culture

@kurth I saw a Robotron-made Macintosh clone in the collection at the #ComputerHistoryMuseum ( #CHM ).
One of my local buddies, #CuriousMarc , has a pretty cool channel on YouTube
Though he has a nice lab at his home, he sometimes visits the #ComputerHistoryMuseum as he does in this wonderful piece:
Lyle Bickley explains the PDP-1 (and we play the original Spacewar!)
@akozak
Agreed.
Many startups moving fast bought things at Fry's ... which was also very kind in flexible equipment donations to #ComputerHistoryMuseum for our main Exhibition.

Anti-trans folks might stop using things in whose creation crucial contributions were made by trans folks, like ARM microprocessors (Sophie Wilson, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophie_Wilson) or even more pervasive, VLSI semiconductors (Lynn Conway, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynn_Conway), both Fellows of #ComputerHistoryMuseum, among many honors. I still have my copy of Mead-Conway book.

If you aren't already, follow Shannon Vallor, terrific on tech+ethics. She did a great evening talk a few years back for us #ComputerHistoryMuseum Trustees, before she decamped for Edinburgh.
@ShannonVallor
@lauren
Do you know where that IMP is now, if it still exists?
We have one at #ComputerHistoryMuseum, but it was donated by BBN.
