Een niet te vergeten auteur-cineast die de komische filmweg van #cinema giganten als #Keaton, #Lloyd en #Chaplin verder plaveide is vast en zeker #JacquesTati, al deed die laatste er ontegensprekelijk zijn eigenzinnige ding mee, met die gigantische erfenis.
Vergelijkbare stijlkenmerken die terugkomen in Tati's filmoeuvre zijn de Keatoneske tableaux vivants (getuige de weinige close-ups en medium shots, oftwel een l'école du regard) en het gevecht tegen de (huiselijke, moderne) elementen.

I always had a weird crush on Maggie Smith when I was a young kid. Kind of like a pop star one you’d get from seeing them on TV.
For some people, it was Bowie doing ‘Starman’ or Kate Bush or whatever. But Smith? She was meta & smart, like Rita Hayworth with added, alien, Brecht-Bowie-Chaplin energy.
I kept seeing her being all cool and being *in* a role, and offering commentary *on* the character at the same time. Winking at the audience.

Okay, I don't know who #Minynaranja is, but she appears to have invented a video-driven genre of #clowning by which she basically turns herself into a cartoon character ... without any digital image manipulation of any kind. Amazing stuff. Like #Chaplin meets #ChuckJones.
