Maaaan, I don't even want to confess to you that I'm just sitting here sifting bookmarks while paying passing attention to my first film of the night, a French film called Aimez Qui Vous Voulez, or in English "Happy Few" or "Four Lovers" (2010), directed by Antony Cordier, a very talky movie about love and relationships. I can't say if I like it but it's compelling.

After that I plan to watch Tootsie (1982), directed by Sydney Pollack, starring Dustin Hoffman, Jessica Lange, Teri Garr, Dabney Coleman, and Charles Durning. I think I've seen it 3-4 times over the last 40 years. I mean, who hasn't seen it? But I haven't for at least 15 years, maybe 20.

The top video shows a scene from the film The Pianist, which recreates the segregation of Jews in the Nazi ghetto of Warsaw circa 1943, when they were forbidden to walk in the streets outside the ghetto.

The video below is a moment in the BBC documentary The Settlers, showing the segregation of Palestinians in the West Bank ghetto in 2025, forbidden by Zionists to walk in streets frequented by Israelis.

If Bollywood is to be believed, then this song from a 1979 Bollywood “film” was composed by one of its “composers”. So why does it sound, like, totally identical to a song dating back to the US Civil War? 😀
