Mistodon: searching his memory for celebrated cats of the early '90s, contemporary to the Golden Age of the underground computer artscene, Cthulu surfaced with this repulsive specimen. Joy! From the feverish mind of cancelled Spümcø animator #JohnK, it's Stimpson J. Cat from #RenAndStimpy, celebrating his favorite brand of cat litter #GrittyKitty! This #ANSIart screen was included in the new cat-themed MIST0725 artpack collection.

Since the story line and social aspects are central to Cloudburst Connection (BBS themed adventure RPG), there are many ways of conversing with callers and other sysops. One way is through real-time chat! One BBS in the game offers the player tutorials, hints, and elements to advance the story. Players can select their desired response out of a list of possibilities, allowing them to shape the personality of their sysop. Conversational choices will affect the story line. And in true dial-up BBS fashion, you get to see each letter NPCs type, each having their own typing skills. (Don't worry, there's a fast forward button if you get impatient!)

Crafting in Cloudburst Connection (BBS themed adventure RPG) is a little different than the average RPG! In CC, you collect libraries and source code (resources) and use the compiler to build features to add to your BBS, including things like email, voting booths, downloads, the graffiti wall, etc. I've been enjoying making little ANSI icons for each feature!

there were dozens of bulletin board system software packages available in the 90s, but for a fourteen year old kid with warez scene aspirations, there were two that stood above the rest for wannabes like me:

oblivion/2 and iniquity

each grew out of the same software: Telegard (which itself inherited the WWIV source code)

aside from technical and QoL improvements, the most obvious differences for teenagers were the kinds of prepackaged ANSI art the boards came with. you could start an elite board overnight with a careful selection of menus and login screens.

here are two of the best from each bbs

It's really fun adding content into Cloudburst Connection (BBS themed RPG), I'm really trying to get a demo out soon. The graffiti wall on BBSes the player dials into is one way of discovering secrets and game lore. Here the player found out a new secret number to call that somebody posted on the wall.
