Should the #WelfareBenefits changes come about, some claimants would look at intensive job training, as planned by the Government, as “punishment” and would struggle to engage with the process if their benefits were reduced at the same time.

I predict much unrest

The #Labour Party wants to encourage people back into work by changing #welfarebenefits at the same time as making people unemployed by cutting the size of the Civil Service.

How does this make sense?

#Starmer, in reply, refers to the non doms tax, which was weakened, and the raising of passenger duty on private jets, which raises bugger all

Ed Davey asks #Starmer at today's #PMQs to confirm that "the disability benefit will not be cut for those who simply can not work"

#Starmer replies, "We will support those who can not work as well as support those who can work back into work"

I am reading this as further tests and evaluations as to whether someone is disabled or not

At today's #PMQs, John Slinger (Lab) sets things up for the #WelfareBenefits changes

"Will the Prime Minister set out how this government will give everyone who is able to work the support they need, provide compassion for those who can't work, and fix the broken welfare system?"

#Starmer replies, "We inherited a system that is broken morally and economically."

#Kendall goes "hear hear" to this and returns to her bubbling cauldron

It was 5 years ago today #Covid was declared a worldwide pandemic

Currently, there are 1.8 million people with the recognised illness of Long Covid in the UK, about 3% of the population

This value is almost identical to the disproportionately high number of #welfarebenefits claimants

I do not say this lightly

More "welfare benefit fraud and error" identified by the courts leading to almost 60,000 illegally affected claimants receiving payments of up to £5,000. So that might be a reduction of "fraud and error" by a few hundred million pounds. Well done.
