@arstechnica The Apple Vision Pro was not designed with anything beyond a rich able-bodied #human sitting on the couch.
This had the potential to be a game-changing #AR and communications #AAC (augmentative and alternative communications) device.
The Windows-powered Tobii Dynavox tablet does just that. It uses eye-gaze technology to allow people with significant motor and speech problems such as #autism, #cerebralpalsy, #stroke, #brain and #spinalcord #damage to communicate effectively. Even in acute settings, such as post-surgery, these devices are beneficial. This #technology is already here.
Perhaps down the road #Apple can add these features and support an otherwise ignored large part of the population. But for now it's a waste of money and a luxurious toy, at best.
