"AU’s view is actually pretty simple: Adults should be able to form the relationships they want and live their lives free from religious coercion. Everyone must have the right to decide what role, if any, religion will play in their lives. The most private and intimate parts of our lives are no one else’s business."

With the white nationalist christo-fascists coup, you can expect to be turned away from most adoption agencies. They will either be privatized completely, along with CPS, or contracted out to right wing xian providers, who will turn away anyone who won't promise to completely disregard children's rights to be themselves regarding their gender, and their rights to choose their own spiritual path.

And if you're Jewish or Atheist or Muslim or Buddhist or Pagan? Forget it. Not a chance.

From the Nat'l Womens Law Center:

"For nearly 40 years, EMTALA has ensured that patients can access health- and life-saving emergency abortion care. As a federal law, EMTALA protects emergency abortion care in states that now try to ban that care. If anti-abortion extremists succeed in stripping away EMTALA’s protections, doctors in ban states could be forced to violate their sworn duty: to save lives and prevent harm.

Extremists are relentlessly trying to limit abortion, and they are putting pregnant people’s lives on the line. That’s why we’re fighting back. Make a donation now to power the fight for accessible abortion care and a better future for all."

From the National Council of Jewish Women:

A companion to our popular Torah of Reproductive Freedom, this guide similarly walks through the sources that ground a Jewish understanding of contraception — offering critical Jewish insight at a moment when access to contraception is under renewed threat.

As contraception access is targeted through both state and federal policy — from gutted funding for Title X and Medicaid, to the closure of reproductive health care clinics across the country, to the dismantling of agencies responsible for issuing contraception guidelines and the propagation of junk science reports, to growing efforts to allow health care providers to deny care based on religious refusals — this resource offers timely Jewish insight.

#Texas may soon require schools to post the Ten Commandments. Meet the Jewish lawmaker fighting back.

Rep. Jon Rosenthal is the only Jewish member of the Texas House

"Rosenthal introduced an amendment that would have required public schools to display the Jewish and Catholic versions of the #TenCommandments, in addition to the Protestant version, which all have slightly different wording. The amendment’s failure to pass, he argued, showed the hypocrisy of the bill’s supporters.

“The fact that they will argue it’s only about values and not about religion, I think it’s a pretty disingenuous talking point,” he said. “The whole thrust of this, I think, is to get a case in front of a newly formed Supreme Court.” The U.S. Supreme Court has had a 6-3 conservative majority since 2020."

The Forward · Texas may soon require schools to post the Ten Commandments. Meet the Jewish lawmaker fighting back.As the only Jewish member of the Texas House, Rep. Jon Rosenthal feels an added responsibility to voice non-Christian perspectives.

The Fellowship of Reconciliation is not known for avoiding controversial issues. Over the years, the issue of abortion has been hotly and painfully debated among our members, affiliates, staff and board.

In 1999, the FOR National Council determined the organization's position as pro-choice, while calling for “mutually respectful dialogue and compassionate listening on this issue."

In pursuit of such loving dialogue, I welcome all of you, whatever your position on the issue, to join the upcoming conversation with Rev. Zeh.

Classic Republican misrepresentation.

She says the first Congress "authorised the production of the Bible" to explain why there's no #SeparationOfChurchAndState.

And while true, Congress did not pay or require any use of the Bible. Until independence, English Bibles could only be printed in England. So, post-indep, a US publisher sought permission from Congress to print his own. That's it.

I posted this ELEVEN years ago (2014)...

Can I finally say "I told you so?"

"And that is what has happened. Look at our inability now to do anything. Look how the GOP throws their religion around…

I want a conservative opposition. I want to be able to choose my candidates based on their ideas, not their mental state."

"You’re invited to a timely and powerful conversation, “Christian Nationalism Today,” taking place virtually on Wednesday, May 28, from 7:30–9:00 p.m. ET.

Join Americans United President and CEO Rachel Laser and acclaimed journalist and author Katherine Stewart for a revealing look inside the machinery of the Christian Nationalist movement — and how we can fight back.

Together, Rachel and Katherine will examine how Christian Nationalism has gained power in America through an interconnected web of think tanks, legal groups, and policy organizations—all backed by a network of wealthy conservative funders. They’ll pull back the curtain on the inner workings, leading personalities, and disturbing anti-democratic goals of a movement that seeks to erase religious freedom, pluralism, and the rule of law."

From the Workers Circle and Jews for a Secular Democracy:

Moderated by Nomi Joyrich from JFASD, our panel of experts will highlight real-world examples of gender-based discrimination, discuss the Jewish values that implore us to pay attention and take action, examine its far-reaching impact on individuals and communities, and offer practical tools for advocacy.

In this webinar, you’ll learn how to better engage in informed conversations with family, friends, and elected officials, and explore what it means to be a strong ally to the LGTBQ+ community in the fight for gender equity and religious freedom.

Christian Nationalists once again twisting the definitions of words to suit their forced pregnancy agenda.

Being forced to have unwanted children is real coercion - and a crime against humanity.

"All donations directly support our communications campaigns, partnerships and research aimed at normalizing self-directed care and changing the landscape of abortion access in the U.S."

Push back against having christian nationalist beliefs imposed on Jews and other faiths, or secular materialists.

They have no right to legislate their false beliefs. Jewish Women are fighting back - won't you join us?

Forced pregnancy is a violation of every woman's human rights, and the UN Declaration.

As a nation constitutionally committed to religious freedom, we must ensure that everyone has the ability to make their own moral or faith-informed decisions about their bodies and health care.
