Looked at it again: yeah, the AMD GPUs definitely have at least one power saving bug that makes them draw 4x the power at idle, including the latest Radeon RX 9070 -.-
That’s so disappointing, and also that it seems to be an issue with AMD cards for many years!
A fan blade broke off my 7900 XTX mid gaming session, I was playing the Last of Us 2 for about an hour when i heard a slight rattle noise from computer then within about 60-90 seconds it turned into loud clank and grinding noise, and i found the blade at bottom of my case.

@nixternal This is my recommendation for you scenario as well. I learned you end up blowing more money trying to keep an aging machine afloat, instead of making an initial investment in a solid base machine build that can be expanded later.
Go with #AMD all the way, and a mid-range #Radeon GPU won’t set you back too much. I don’t recommend a CPU with integrated graphics due to some performance bottlenecks, plus the last Ryzen APU I got was great but didn’t support the newest PCIe standard…
From my perspective, the #RyzenAI HX 390 MAX series has a very bad value proposition over $1,000.
- For #Gaming, you have RTX 4060M **LAPTOPS** at $800 with a decent CPU.
- For #AI, you can make a good PC for $1,500.
- For battery life, there is a thing called a MacBook.
That's probably why they're not being pushed to the market so hard. Pricing wise, it doesn't make sense.

What's the entry point for #PCGaming, considering you can't build a decent PC below $1,200?
In order of recommendation:
- $1,200+ Laptop with an RTX
- $700 Legion Go / $800 ROG Ally X
- $500 PlayStation 5
- $400 Steam Deck
- $300 Xbox Series S
That's is for gaming appliances in 2025. Hopefully things change for the better Q4 2025, but no #PCGaming until then.
Rumors of the day are saying the next Xbox will be coming out in 2027 instead of 2026 as had been long rumored. I wonder if this means UDNA (formerly RDNA 5) has been pushed back too?
The "D" is for "Disappointment" in #AMD. The cheers lasted a day or two. Now they're back into upselling #RTX.
I expect this being their last high-end gaming card of the decade. I can see them focusing on anything below $500, because over that it's all NVIDIA territory.
I have more hopes on Intel rather than AMD at this point.
Ouch, the out of MSRP the #RX9070XT will become just an NVIDIA upsell.
I firmly believe the #RX9600 will be great if it lands at around $299 and trades blows with the #RTX4060. That's how you break the market.
Otherwise, I will heavily recommend a #PlayStation5 for your gaming dosis, or an #XboxSeriesS for #GamePass.
My guess is that #RX9070 will sell bonkers as long it follows its MRSP of $599.
Again, AMD is subsiding the card and not every card will be available at MSRP, which is a bummer.
The GPU market is bonkers and I'm glad that AMD will no longer fight the higher end and rather start pursuing the $300 markup.

Ich komme gerade aus dem Staunen nicht mehr heraus. Meine neue #AMD #Radeon RX 6800 verbraucht einfach mal 100W weniger Strom, wenn ich die Corespannung um 90mV absenke und die Taktrate auf 2077MHz begrenze (Default 1,025V und 2,3GHz).
In Cyberpunk 2077 macht sich das mit ~8% Leistungsverlust bei 1440p Ultra ohne FSR bemerkbar. Das sind ganze 5 FPS.
Diese 5 FPS kosten 100W Strom
