#NewYearsResolution

It's been my #NewYearsResolution to quit drinking caffeinated coffee and alcohol for the entire year. We've been well into the fifth month of this year, and I'm holding strong.

I had my fair share of cravings, but I'm really enjoying being energized and clearheaded all the time. My sleep quality has increased tenfold, and I no longer need to sit in quiet existence for an hour each morning before becoming a pleasant human being.

Ok, I have a new year's resolution!
What? It's February.
Don't care.
😸
Anyway, I resolve to take advantage of several places' unpopulated off seasons by exercising the skills to be fine with weather and obstacles that most others avoid.

Going solo in the remote harsh when no help will pass by... what could go wrong?

Live Music in 2025

My New Years resolutions speculations post from a few weeks ago included seeing more live music this year. I’ll use posts like this one to sort of take notes on shows that may be coming to my neck of the woods (or not) that I would like to try and work up the energy/courage to go see. We’ll see how this list develops over the course of the year.

  • Tsunami on March 23rd at the Crystal Ballroom in Somerville Theatre
    • Yes I want to see this show. Will I? I don’t know. Tickets are already on sale.
  • Throwing Muses
    • No US dates have been announced though there are shows on the books in Europe. If they play in the US you are probably going to have to chain me to a wall and lock me in a dungeon to keep me away.
  • Steven Wilson
    • No US dates have been announced though there are shows in Europe (a lot of them) and word is that US/North American shows are coming. I would like to see him but how badly I want to go depends on his next record, which comes out in March. If it’s really good, then I will try to see a show, assuming he plays in/around Boston.
  • Lizardfish
    • Duh

More to come as the year rolls on. I want 2025 to be a more musical year, but how badly do I want that? I’ll let you know as things develop.

Been thinking about New Year's Resolutions and finally came up with one: I want to stop doing things I'm not enjoying.

I have a tendency to keep sticking with a thing long after it stops being enjoyable. That includes binging YouTube, playing games after I've already realized the game isn't for me, and a few other unhealthy habits. l want to get better at recognizing those situations and get myself out of them. Life is too short to spend it sticking with things that are clearly not working out.

My new years resolutions are to treat more of those desperate to be taken seriously* much, much less seriously and to treat more of those who don't spare a thought to appearances† much more seriously.

* The next big thing's billions in budget don't need acknowledgement. Irrelevancy can be mistaken for importance when it can pay bribes.

† The spontaneous protestor getting pilloried for acting to keep the environment and climate action on the agenda matters.

@0xabad1dea you have a lot of replies so i dont know if youve heard this one

but somoene on masto posted the other day about making a new year BINGO CARD

which IMO is a great idea for folks who wanna do a resolution style thing with way less pressure.
and OP gave themselves a reward everytime one of the bingo squares was crossed off.
seemed like a cool idea to me.
