“Trump to prepare facility at #Guantanamo for 30,000 migrants” [Reuters]

^ yes, #Trump, but the Republican party has been eaten by #MAGA & anyone who remains serving in it bears responsibility – if you continue to drink at the #NAZIbar, you’re a NAZI

I have #Substack blocked at the DNS level, because I never, ever, ever, want to read anything on that site.

Substack's whole thing is "the #subscription network", and the only people who use it are people who have bought into #neoliberalism hook, line, and sinker.

The #influencea epidemic is already overwhelming, and trying to nickel and dime us to death with $1/mo here, $2/mo there, $5/mo over there. I'm looking at you, too, Patreon.

I'm not your livestock, not your farm. #NaziBar

It's official. #WashingtonPost is now too far right for conservative centrist #JenniferRubin, who joined similarly conservative pundits and lawyers like George Conway, Asha Rangappa, and Laurence Tribe to found new outlet called #TheContrarian. Congratulations #JeffBezos, you turned the one remaining newspaper of record in this country into just another #NaziBar.

"More than 60 German and Austrian academic organizations say they will leave the messaging platform X owned by Elon Musk. The German government has also voiced fears that the platform is warping political discourse...saying its algorithms were opposed to a discourse based on scientific and democratic integrity."

‘The dumbest climate conversation of all time’: experts on the Musk-Trump interview

Trump talked about ‘nuclear warming’ while Musk said the only reason to quit fossil fuels is that their supply is finite.

Does HN have a Nazi Bar problem?

See thread and my comments here: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4

The pg tweet mentioned:

"Remember in 2016 when a huge mob tried to pressure Y Combinator into firing Peter Thiel as a part-time partner because he supported Trump rather than Clinton? Seems unimaginable now, and yet at the time we felt very much in the minority in refusing."

I'd posted my response (news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4) a few weeks ago. Recently had a private reply from a very prominent long-time HN member who'd left the site shortly earlier for effectively the same reasons, which has me thinking.

If you're comfortable discussing your thoughts I'd appreciate hearing them.

Unfortunately, HN remains one of the few well-designed and (sometimes) useful online discussion sites. That said, @jwz may well have been right all these years. Certainly has been about marca.

(I'd asked a similar question privately earlier.)

Reshares appreciated.

Is someone tracking the Substack exodus, and who's actually followed up on their public threat to leave if they didn't renounce their oft-stated support of monetizing Nazis (and other bad actors)?

This seems to be the most prominent one (40k subs) I've seen so far, and I love their honesty about the risk and challenges involved.

Doing the right thing is usually the harder choice, but it's definitely a choice.
