This is neat idea: offering rebates to help subsidize #micromobility purchases in order to replace trips by car in specific regions/neighborhoods. (Obviously my preference would be to offer broad subsidies at high levels of city or state governments. But programs like this are certainly far better than nothing!)

YES!

I’ve been a huge fan of Freshly Charged for a long time…basically my go-to channel any time I want to learn more about the latest e-scooters and e-bikes. I’ve been eagerly awaiting their coverage of the latest slate of Segway scooters, and here’s a ride-along with initial thoughts on the MAX G3.

I wasn’t in the market for this much scooter, but now that I’m seeing this one in action and what it’s capable of…da-y-um. 😅

My latest for the Cycles Hyped No More newsletter:

A leap of 25% in a single generational shift in battery technology is truly remarkable. It would mean that you could either buy the same EV and get a significantly higher amount of range, or you could buy a car with today's typical range and save on the lower battery cost.

Obviously with my personal focus on #micromobility I salivate at the possibility that e-bikes & e-scooters could likewise see range gains of 25%… 🤯

The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, has been hailed as a visionary who transformed this iconic city into a bicycle and pedestrian-friendly oasis.

And rightfully so—yet it certainly wasn’t all her doing and she was aided and prodded along by well-organized advocacy groups. Tom Babin of Shifter has the scoop in this entertaining video with beautiful scenes of Paris.

It’s a #micromobility miracle!

“Pedestrians crossing the street wherever they like….It’s just stupid & lazy, not to mention dangerous.” –Joy M.

No Joy, it’s the *cars* that are dangerous, NOT the pedestrians!

I’m proud that #Portland has a thriving #micromobility scene—bikes, scooters, etc. sharing space with cars.

The original Segway PT self-balancing scooter, codenamed "Ginger" and called simply "IT" online, was a very hyped product at the dawn of the millennium—fueled by reports that Steve Jobs himself had declared that in the future, “cities would be designed around the device” and the invention would prove to be “as significant as the personal computer.”

Well, here we are two decades later, and clearly none of that came to pass.

*Or did it?* 🤔
