Yes, that's right—

The head of Minnesota's business lobby is named Doug Loon.

Minnesota's state bird is the common loon.

Coincidence? Yes.

Now that that's out of the way, what if business growth is •not• the ne plus ultra of life on Earth?

Work is overrated.

“I’d like to get us back to a place where we’re going to have a right balance in policy so that we don’t put headwinds in front of the state’s economy,” said Minnesota Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Doug Loon. “Right now, our data shows our economy’s not growing at the pace it should be, and we’re falling behind.”

Rep. Reuben Wee of Balaton, a robin backer, challenged Rutter to “give us a demonstration of the call of the loon.”

Rutter demurred. “I am sorry but I cannot,” he sniffed, feathers slightly ruffled. “I am not a bird caller.”

Rep. Edward Barsness of Glenwood came to Rutter’s aid, saying the loon’s call had “a certain sweet sadness” that reminded him of an Irish tenor singing “I’ll Take You Home Again, Kathleen.”

Opinion: #Trump's #GOP #excuses #racists, #loons and #criminals. There's no #bottom anymore.

What matters here is less the #racist #rant of a decidedly #doltish #dipstick like #GOP #Rep. #ClayHiggins and more the #ease with which #Trump-era #Republicans excuse the #monsters in their midst.

— They excuse them, because they see themselves in the monsters. The image in the next post explains it better than I ever could...
