@landley @mrmasterkeyboard yeah.

Personally, if "producing paper" wasn't undesireable you'd propably consider just taking the subsets of #POSIX and #LSB you're implementing and standardizing that as a sorf-of "#TINYNIX" (MININIX may be confused with Minix, MICRONIX and NANONIX already exist) standard.

  • Simply because you've propably taken a look at every userland-tool you want to include or have included in #toybox and asked if it's necessary to make a self-hosting OS.

I just tend to ask what are the comfort features and tools that I use and want if I have to use "my little distro" for my daily job as linux sysadmin.

@HeatSinkAmbassador @halva @ubuntu @opensuse Then why did #Linux standard on SystemD?

  • Certainly @linuxfoundation or whoever writes the #LSB took their time re: that change and if you have ever habe to deal with huge amounts of servers, the whole benefits of the "#SystemD suite" really works well, because noone wants to deal with a shitton of filters & #syslog over journalctl -xe …

Don't get me wrong, @OS1337 runs off a single /etc/init file..., but for an embedded distro of it's tinyness, that is acceptable.

@kaia @hj @why@shitposter.world Well, AFAIK #vi is in the #LSB and not only does #CentOS & #RHEL come with it, even #toybox comes with a partially complete vi implementation...

Re: #Ubuntu I do use #nano on it sonce it comes preinstalled and I rarely need it anyway.

@cameronbosch @funkybuddha @itsfoss That being said AFAICT #RedoxOS at least has a #GUI, so unlike #OS1337 there's way less work necessary to build applications for it.
